Our Hire Trailer do’s and don’ts:
Please don’t:
…Leave the trailer stored with the handbrake on as this seizes up the brakes. When empty and parked up always make sure the wheels are chocked and the handbrake is released.
…Leave horses tied to the trailer unattended.
…Travel horses with the top door above the front ramp open, this can be dangerous.
…Try to fix something yourself if you or your horse accidently damages something.
…Travel horses with Studs in their shoes.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Please do:
Make sure the trailer is correctly hitched up and the breakaway cable is securely attached to the vehicle chassis (not just draped over the ball hitch).
Make sure the jockey wheel is up before driving away, this is a common mistake.
Check all electric lights are working before each journey.
Always check all doors are secured before travelling and close all doors and roof vents when not being used to prevent water ingress and prevent unwanted pests.
Lock the trailer to your vehicle using the coupling lock when left unattended at events.
Where possible, please park on hard standing rather than grass.
Remove Studs from horse shoes
Clean out each time after use. Trailers returned dirty will incur a £40 charge.
Lock the trailer overnight. Please lock the coupling with the key and put the wheel-clamp on a REAR wheel, and / or the hitch lock on the coupling as appropriate.
Call us with any problems on 07768 627703 or 07973 185059. Damages and theft must be reported as soon as possible.
If we are unavailable our authorised repairers are Universal Trailers on the A272 at Coneyhurst, near Billingshurst, West Sussex. 01403 782862. All costs of any repair must be settled by the hirer.
